The Sonoff Pow is a Sonoff device that includes a wattmeter alongst the power switch found in other devices.
To program the Sonoff Pow a serial connection is needed - this can be modernly achieved using an USB TTL FTDI converter coupled to the serial interface on the Sonoff Pow board.
The Sonoff device has to be opened by removing the screw holding the mains cables down and then physically pulling the device apart.
The Sonoff Pow board will contain a slot next to the hardware button where a dupont header can be soldered.
Using the header, dupont wires can be drawn to the RX
, TX
, GND
and 3.3V
serial header of the FTDI USB converter.
From left, to right, the pins represent, in order:
GND
,RX
,TX
,3.3V
following the diagram:
+-----------------------------------+--------+ | LEDs +-+ | | | .-. Fuse | | | Mains | | ---( > )--- +-+ | | | `-' | | | | | .-. | | | | | ---( > )--- | | | | | `-' +-+ | | | Push Button | | | | | +-------+ +-+ | | | | --- | | | | | -+ +- | | | | +-------+ | | | | | +---+ | | GND | | | | <------------------* | | | RX | | | | <------------------* | | | TX | | | | <------------------* | | | 3.3V | | | | <------------------* | | | | | | | +---+-------------------------------+--------+
To enter the programming phase, the Sonoff device must be attached (and thereby powered on) whilst holding down the push button.
