To clear out ghoul-infested map tilesets, perhaps the easiest way is to create or buy a "Ghoul Repellent" Serum and then use it while meleeing the ghouls. The "Ghoul Repellent" Serum is more than a "repellent", in fact, it makes the ghouls ignore the player completely, including when dealing damage to them.
The quest to repair the radio seems terribly difficult in particular because the train yard is full of ghouls that are very difficult to clear out, however a "Ghoul Repellent" Serum is easy for that purpose and can be used to allow the player to clear out the entire map easily.
The rest of the quest involves a small puzzle revolving mainly around Ohm's law. The first thing to do is to go inside the large warehouse next to the train shunting yard and pick up a fuse, and some resistors, while dodging one of the anomalies. Mid-way, a dead body can be looted that contains a piece of paper onto which Ohm's law is written.
The radio shack contains a fuse box, two resistor boxes and a generator outside. From the warehouse, the gas goes into the generator, a single fuse goes into the fuse box and then two resistors must go into the resistor boxes.
The fuse is rated at and said to be able to sustain a current of
, such that applying Ohm's law
leads to a total resistance of
. Apparently, this means that the two resistor boxes must be populated with any two resistors that add up to
and it seems that the only possible solution is to place the
and
resistors in the boxes.
This sequence of the game is marked by excessive tedium, with the motorcycle "appearing" in Zernaskaya Village way, way, way before the player gets to Lake Cheko which is both confusing and frustrating making the player ransack all the areas around Zernaskaya Village in order to find a key that simply cannot be found because even the area where they is to be found has not yet been unlocked! Yikes! Additionally, the game does not implement a private universal stash that is transferred between zones (like any other game) such that leaving stuff stashed in Zernaskaya Village will not transfer over to, say, Ravenwood automatically, requiring the player to manually ferry all the stuff by hand manually all the way back and forth - and, fortunately, the motorcycle does have a large inventory that the player can use to transport everything with them all the time, which makes the motorcycle even more indispensable. Similarly, there are some "indispensables" that are like secondary tools that are not really used as "tools" as per the game terminology, namely the holy trinity: crowbar, shovel and axe, that all have to be used for different purposes but due to lift capacity cannot be carried by the player at the same time.
The motorcycle is the only one that can provide some fast travel around Zernaskaya Village locations (the Old Mill, the Barn and Church as well as all the paths leading up to Koshevoy Estate). In order to retrieve the key, aa pipe must be taken in order to reach the swam at Lake Cheko from the Koshevoy Estate. The key is to be found in a cemetery within the swamp at Lake Cheko by searching a corpse fallen next to a grave as indicated by the red X on the following map.
Apparently, the back story is that the deceased person next to the grave went tracking from Zernaskaya Village to find his beloved and then ended up dead in the Lake Cheko swamp leaving a note behind and regretting that he left his motorcycle back in Zernaskaya Village.
However, to even use the motorcycle, the player must backtrack all the way to Zernaskaya Village either by paying two expensive guides or by going back all the way on foot, after which some gasoline must be poured in the motorcycle and also some scrap metals to get the motorcycle ready. The game is attractive and nice to play but all this fidgeting around with minutia like inventory management and the lack of a consistent fast travel make wasting time running around from one zone that has been cleared many times to any next zone unbelievably dull and boring (It's susprising the game even has an "inventory sort button", we'd expect the game to demand that the player sort every single little inventory square by hand with the mouse pointer, like a real man!)
Note that the motorcycle is decent but it will not reach the swamp at Lake Cheko, so to reach the swamp, the motorcycle has to be left behind at Koshevoy Estate and then a pipe must be followed to get to Lake Cheko. If your patience is dwindling, we have a save game taken right after the motorcycle is unlocked, repaired, refueled and with loads of items and ingredients inside the trunk.
