Google A.I. "overview" is a very annoying feature that is being forced upon everyone that populates the search results with one result from Google A.I. that contains a typical mashup slop response. The response is more than often wrong, or contains some correct elements mixed with some outlandish garbage such that reading the output is even more distracting than obtaining the wrong answer to a question.
In any case, the following AdBlock Plus filters should solve the issue and permanently block Google A.I. without requiring any additional extension:
www.google.com#?#div:-abp-has(> div[data-mcpr])
Google scrambles its class names and element IDs so it's very tough to match on something that will be stable regardless of how much Google updates its search page. Fortunately, it seems that there's a distinguishable DIV element that contains a data-mcpr
attribute that is to be found nowhere such that the rule above is built upon it. Furthermore, the A.I. content seems a new toy that Google is very proud of given that the response from the A.I. is even graced with an HTML level-two headline (h2
), sometimes even with the A.I. output being the main Google search headline (h1
) on their main search page but when they end up disappointed, the layout might change.
For now the misleading A.I. responses can be hidden.
