Given that day-night cycles take place in real time, then any action performed is a time-consuming operation such that optimizing resource gathering and progress is important. It is interesting that it is possible to fell trees at the same time as smashing rocks simply by chopping the tree down such that it falls on top of a stone formation. In order to accomplish this, the camera must be aligned properly and the crosshair must point towards the rock formation. When the tree falls over, it will fall in the direction that the crosshair is pointing at and in case it falls over any other resources, such as a stone pile, huckleberries, etc, then the other resources will be automatically transformed in items that can be picked up for harvest.
