Hambook is a modern general-purpose CAT-control software package for HAM radios targeting the Windows platform.

Features

  • designed as a toolbox where various usage patterns are accessed via the tiny tray menu,
  • can remain resident in the notification tray and out of the way at all times,
  • does not hold the serial port open at all times allowing the temporary usage of other HAM radio software,
  • the ability to scan all the popular bands and stop when a signal is detected,
    • configurable pause time,
    • configurable signal detect delay,
    • configurable frequency increments,
  • the ability to scan a custom range of frequencies,
  • the ability to re-define all the popular bands,
  • the ability to change frequency just by using the scroll wheel,
    • the ability to input frequencies manually,
  • changing radio modes FM, AM, SSB, etc,
  • when using a Yaesu tuner or a compatible HAM radio with the TNR CAT command, the ability to tune frequencies,
    • the ability to bulk-tune a range of frequencies or a popular frequency band,
  • the ability to organize memorized frequency channels on the radio (tag, untag as well as set all the properties, import and export the list, edit offline and re-import),
  • a spectrogram visualization,
  • some toys, such as a scrolling text ticker :-)

Supported Devices

At the current time of writing, the following devices are supported:

  • Yaesu FT-891

It is possible to add support for other devices by requesting a new device via the bug tracker.

Installing and Using

The zip file can be downloaded and the contents extracted to their final position. Upon launching the executable HamBook.exe, the program will hide inside the notification tray and remain resident. The user can right click the icon in the notification tray in order to configure Zzz.

The following is a list of supported radio models and various settings that could be made in order to make HamBook work better with the radios.
