Using Google streetview one can see anything but one can never really get a glimpse of the mapping vehicle. Sometimes there is a shadow being cast due to the sun such that the instrument on top of the car can be seen but there is no way to rotate the camera to be able to see the vehicle itself. Obviously, one solution is to locate a mirror somewhere but that is not too easy either with most monuments or sight-seeing objects more than likely being placed within a park where the mapping vehicle does not access. The solution is to locate safety convex mirrors that are placed on roads in order to help in traffic. Perhaps the more likely location of such traffic objects is within cities with very narrow streets resulting in sharp turns such that it would have been more than likely for mirrors to have been placed at these locations to prevent accidents.
The car captured in the image is a Google street view mapping car, with the mirror placed within an intersection, somewhere in Malta.
