Since the AirPort utility got nerfed, downgrading the firmware is not straight-forward. To downgrade the firmware, you have to launch AirPort Utility, select your device and then hold down ALT (option key) whilst clicking the "Version" field on the pop-up. This will allow you to select a different firmware.
