About

The Hellshroud is a part-cosmetic part-protection leather skin for the Hellvape 200 vaping device. The Hellshroud was created similar to other leather cases for vaping devices because none were available for the great Hellvape 200 vaping mod. The Hellshroud is made out of leather, with a aluminum-metal visor through which the Hellvape 200 LCD as well as the controls can be accessed, that wraps around the vaping device and is tied at the back with white thread. The following document describes the realization of the Hellshroud from a piece of leather and to the final product.

This is a medium twisted reality item and the natural deviation is due to:

yet derivations of the item where these components are omitted are entirely realizable.

The breakdown of the components is the following:

Realization

The project begins with a small slice of leather that is cut to size and large enough to envelop the Hell200 device from the front and to the back.

Using a set of scalpels, the leather is cut using an aluminum sheet as ruler that also ensures that the edges are straight and aligned with each other. In order to maintain a low toritoned reality item, the symmetry is not insisted upon yet sufficient care is given to make sure that the leather sheet is pleasant to look at. Technically, the leather sheet chosen is $3mm$ thick and fairly rigid and some grease is used to help bending the leather to ensure that the measurements around the Hell200 device are sufficient.

Using a Dremel, the holes on either side of the leather slab are drilled through, instead of using a pin to manually create the fastening holes.

The Hellshroud will end up being fastened around the Hell200 device and these will be the holes through which a thread, fastened at the back, will be passed, that will bind the Hellshroud with the Hell200 device. To prevent wear and tear, the drilled holes are then populated with brass grommets that help fortify the holes and prevent the thread from tearing into the leather.

The problem is that when the leather slab will be cut in the middle, in order to create an opening through which the Hell200 vaping device can be operated by reaching for the buttons as well as observing the LCD screen, and when the leather is wrapped around the Hell200 device, the opening will appear stretched, which will not look very good aspectually. In order to solve this issue, an aluminum frame is cut to size, matching the Hell200 device LCD screen and controls, as well as sanded down and polished using a Dremel device.

The frame, when completed, will be fitted over the aperture in the middle of the leather slab, providing a metal window to the display of the Hell200 vaping device.

Some super glue and JB weld is used to attach the aluminum frame to the leather temporarily in order to achieve a better long term bond between the frame and the leather slab. Naturally, this will not be the one and only final bond, such that using a set of chisels and a mallet, the frame is surrounded with small holes in order to be able to sew the frame to the leather using natural thread, thereby both increasing the reliability of the bond as well as adding a nice rustic aspect to the Hellshroud.

Using a needle and thread, the long process of fastening the frame to the leather starts, hole by hole, going slowly all the way around the opening.

After some time, the end is reached, knots tied in order to ensure that the thread will not escape and then the thread is cut from the needle leading to the final sewn result.
